FAQs

How often does Indigenous Students' Union meet?

We host one Annual General Meeting (AGM) a year. This year, our AGM will be on November 14th, 2022. All members are encouraged to attend!

Our Executive Committee meets every Monday 5pm during the fall semester

All members are welcome to attend in person at the ISU Lounge or online through zoom.

Where can I look to find your current events and programs?

We post a lot of our ongoing events and programs on our website but we recommend following us on social media and signing up for our mailing list to receive the most information.

You can sign up for our mailing list by filling out this form

How do I become a member?

If you identified as an Indigenous student when you applied to the UofA, and you have not opted out of the ISU DFU (Dedicated Fee Unit), you are a member of ISU! If you don’t know whether or not you have opted out of the ISU DFU, it is likely that you have not.

If you are a non-Indigenous student at the UofA, you may also become a member of ASC if you have not opted out of the ISU DFU. In order to do so, simply email us at indigenous.su@ualberta.ca and state that you are a non-Indigenous student that would like to become a member.

We encourage you to come to our meetings and events if you are interested in becoming a member.

How can I get more involved?

There are many ways that you can get involved with ISU! If you are interested in attending our events, please sign up for our mailing list and follow us on social media for the most up-to-date info.

If you are interested in leadership roles, consider signing up to be a mentor with our Otôtêmiwêwin Program or apply for one of our Director roles. This is a great way to take on a leadership position in ISU without committing to the full workload of an executive position. More info can be found on our home page.

Lastly, if you are unsure about taking on any sort of role but still want to be more involved, you are more than welcome to attend our meetings! See question #1 for more info.
